The Museum of Anthropology was seeking a way to attract younger, more tech savvy visitors to their facility. A team of six designers were asked to help create an interactive installation that would attract those visitors, while in keeping with the ethos that this cherished establishment has created.
I was responsible for designing both the external fabrication, as well as the software experience that would resemble elements from a classic textiles loom from Ghana. I spoke with museum visitors, with curators and facilitators to better understand the museum’s goals. Afterwards, I drafted up personas, as well as an audio script that was designed to intuitively guide visitors through a weaving experience. I then helped test how the hardware and software components worked together, such that the users would enjoy their experience and want to return to visit the museum.
